Kerridge’s Bar & Grill

In September 2018, Michelin-starred Chef Tom Kerridge, launched Kerridge’s Bar & Grill at the famous Corinthia Hotel, London, one of the capital’s true grand hotels, blending grandeur and heritage, with contemporary design – and Crest Leather plays a small part in this long and distinguished story.

Originally the Hotel Metropole, The Corinthia Hotel was the largest hotel in Europe when it first opened in 1885. During World Wars I and II, the building was requisitioned by the War Office, and was host to Winston Churchill, who served as Minister for Munitions here from 1917 to 1919. After lying vacant for many years, the legendary building was restored to its former glory and reopened by Corinthia Hotels in 2011.

Kerridge’s Bar & Grill was set up following the success of Tom’s accomplished Hand & Flowers pub, in Marlow – currently the only pub in the UK with two Michelin stars. The Bar & Grills represents Tom’s first London restaurant, and, keen to maintain the success of Hand & Flowers, Tom drafted in many of his existing team, and utilised his trusted selection of producers; Andy Cook, William Edwards and Rebellion Brewery.

Alongside head chef, Nick Beardshaw, the team created a menu which combines classic and traditional techniques, and plays on Tom’s reputation for serving his take on the UK’s most celebrated dishes. Part of the experience is to ensure people feel a connection with the food, and visitors to the restaurant are invited to immerse themselves into the whole process of lunch and dinner. There are real ales, a meat fridge in the room, bread and cheeses on display, and a rotisserie – where the team grills nearly half the main menu.

With its grand dining room, Kerridge’s Bar & Grill is a fun and engaging space, and the luxurious furniture, finished with Crest Leather, is supported by a wide array of mixed media art. The walls are lined with artwork by Beth Cullen-Kerridge, Robi Walters, Chris Moon, Jim Threapleton, Carne Griffiths and Peter Ceredig-Evens. The restaurant also features photography by photographer P Gerard Barker and a sculpture created by Mark Beattie.

Crest Leather is extremely proud to feature in this beautiful restaurant, with the help of British manufacturer and contract furniture specialists, Pure CF.
