Hide & Stitch

With over 25 years’ experience in the interiors industry, David and Hazel Motley launched their upholstery business, Hide & Stitch, in 2005, following the success of David’s previous business Times Past Interiors.

Initially formed as a web-based business, producing a small range of leather furniture, such as benches, cubes, tables and footstools, the Cambridge-based company has since gone from strength-to-strength. Driven by David’s previous experience as an engineer, and having trained with an Italian upholstery company from a young age, Hide & Stitch now makes a wide range of bespoke pieces in leather and cowhide.

Having completed a number of handrail projects, leather handrails and wall panels became one of the largest areas of David and Hazel’s business, and included work for Lincoln Castle at the Magna Carta Vault, various hotels and restaurants in London, and luxurious residences around Chelsea, Kensington and Mayfair, amongst other areas of the UK.

A recent company highlight, was the ‘Tuk Tuk Camper’ that David created, and which appeared on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, on Channel 4. Featuring our very own Crest Leather, the customised 1960 flatbed Lambretta 3-wheel bike caught the attention of the team at Plum Pictures, who decided David’s work was worthy of an appearance on the popular TV show.
