The Royal Oak is a grade 2 listed pub in Kent beautifully restored by its new owner with Quarter & Forge. The scheme not only completely transformed the pub for the existing and new customers, but also introduced 5 letting rooms above the pub.
A beautiful flint clad pub, The Royal Oak was designed to embrace and retain its charm. A simple and light colour palette was used with accents of soft greens and mustard. This compliments the warm Old English Tan leather. Existing dated furniture was painted and re-upholstered in soft velvets.
The bedrooms were designed embracing natural materials using reclaimed timber headboards with leather and plaid cushions fixed with a copper pole creating a statement feature to the room. Painted panelling with wallpaper above was introduced to create interest to the rooms as well as protection to the walls. Instead of using big bulky wardrobes, natural oak frames were used for clothes storage. This ensures the rooms weren’t filled with furniture.
